  Micro-segmentation is big!

Bill shock is on the increase and the mounting use of data-hungry devices is the cause of it all – a good thing right? Well, not if you happen to work in a call center and are the target of an angry subscriber with a bad case of bill shock. Furthermore, bill shock creates bad publicity for operators, even when massive reductions are made to a subscriber’s bill. It isn’t good news for anyone!

The problem here is that operators are left facing a double challenge; to get their subscribers to use data while roaming, as this represents a substantial amount of income while, at the same, time avoiding bill shock. It isn’t impossible. The right mobile marketing campaigns can not only make bill shock a thing of the past, but also increase operator revenues.

Fortunately for mobile network operators, the development of new technology has influenced the evolution of traditional SMS campaigns over the last few years. Micro-segmented campaigns are now possible and definitely the right way to go, as they are able to target individuals based on their personal usage, mobile lifestyle and roaming habits pulled from their subscriber profile. Operators can then offer an array of relevant information about spending habits and can also offer attractive data packages, specifically suited to each subscriber.

The good news is that we not only have a solution to tackle bill shock, we have a merged solution of two powerful tools. Sparx, our state-of-the-art roaming communication tool includes multi-triggers plus real-time and dynamic events.

The solution creates micro-segmentation campaigns based on the operator’s business rules and includes multi-campaign types such as:

•  Information
•  Tariff
•  Roaming Control
•  Promotion
•  Cross media system, delivers
    SMS, MMS, Email, Voice, Web

Combined with our Roaming Control solution, Sparx creates one cost-effective, innovative tool to manage roaming packages and subscribers’ usage. Sparx’s ability to micro-segment will not only enhance mobile operators’ roaming offering and communication, but will also generate revenues from third party organizations. The complete solution serves both operators’ and roamers’ existing and future needs.

The evolution of SMS has come a long way since the simple Welcome/ Bon Voyage SMS. So, where are you in the SMS evolution chain?
